A history of FRC precast tunnel segments in Singapore’s underground rail projects

By 2019, Singapore railway will have 15.6 km of fibre reinforced concrete precast segmental tunnel linings supplied by Bekaert Maccaferri Underground Solutions. The proven durability of these fibre reinforced precast tunnel segments has resulted in more underground rail projects adopting steel and synthetic fibre reinforced concrete solutions.
The underground rail projects in Singapore using FRC precast tunnel segments are detailed below:
Singapore Circle Line 1 C825
Completed in 2005 using temporary tunnel segments reinforced with RC-65/60-BN steel fibre only solution.
Singapore Circle Line 5 C856
Completed in 2006 using temporary tunnel segments reinforced with RC-65/60-BN steel fibre only solution.
Singapore Downtown Line 3 C933
Completed in 2014 using permanent tunnel segments reinforced with FF3 and Fibromac FR steel and synthetic fibre solution.
Singapore Thomson East Coast Line T206
Completed in 2016 using permanent tunnel segments reinforced with RC-80/60-BM and Duomix M6 Fire, steel and synthetic fibre solution.
