About what happened: WTC 2019

2.700 participants from 73 countries worldwide, 230 exhibitors, 180 podium presentations and 405 e-poster presentations. These are official numbers WTC Naples 2019 published this month. We can conclude that the World Tunnelling Congress is one of the most important events for the tunnelling industry.

What’s in the name?

This year WTC was held in Naples from the 3rd until the 9th of May. This multiple-day event has multiple layers. First up you have the exhibition where industry specialist come together. Next you have the technical seminars and presentations. Last but not least you have the social events organized by the committee.

As usual, WTC opened with an impressive opening ceremony thereafter the exhibition opened. We had the pleasure of meeting a lot of you. We would like to thank everyone for the interesting conversations, laughter and interest.

Let’s learn from each other

With 180 podium presentations and 405 e-poster presentations we can conclude that the industry is thriving. It’s always a pleasure to hear your colleagues speak about new innovations, test results and so on.

We had the pleasure to give a podium presentation. Our global Technical Manager and Business Developer, Benoit De Rivaz, spoke about his research with Nello Giamundo, Alberto Meda, Zila Rinaldi and Simone Spagnuolo regarding ‘Hybrid solution with steel fiber reinforced concrete and glass fiber reinforced polymer rebars for precast tunnel segments’.

Ready for some fun?

This year’s organizing committee made sure that we had plenty of opportunities to discover the Italian culture. We are very proud that a member of our team, Anna Bortolussi, participated as ‘Social Program Committee chair of Congress’. This group has done an excellent job in supporting the organization of all social events and making this an unforgettable time for all participants.
